Circus Charlie  Soft Pro (Konami)1986[media=youtube]https://youtu.be/2EmrTTl8Q4U[/media]***In Circus Charlie you play a young clown through five side scrolling stages, which eventually repeat itself endlessly. The arcade original featured a sixth stage which was omitted from the Famicom version. In the first stage you ride a lion and have to jump through circles of fire. The second (extremely easy) stage lets you jump over monkeys; in the third stage you must jump from one circus ball onto another. In the last two stages you have to ride on a horse and finally swing yourself from rope to rope. The game is playable, but since it is pretty easy to finish all levels in a few minutes, the game has no long motivating content and you have virutally seen everything the game has to offer. Graphics and sound are nothing special and merely average even for a rather early Famicom game. labelimageminimize
Family School  Tokyo Shoseki (Tokyo Shoseki;Toppan Printing)1987As a promotional game and not a game of the official Famicom game catalog this one positively surprised me. Its some sort of action transport puzzle game where your task is to water plants in some kind of garden so that fruit grows. Then you have to push the right fruit into the right basket at the edge of the playing field. Watch out for animals which will try to harm you. The game can be played with at least two players simultaneously and is quite well playable for what it wants to be. The graphics are a bit plain looking and there is not really much to it, but as I said at the beginning for being a promotional game its OK. The game is of course more expensive than your normal Famicom game, but not really super rare; with original copies being up on auction sites nealy all the time.***This game was apparently was given as a free gift by, 第一生命 (Dai-ichi life), an insurance company, to people who purchased policies from them. So it may not actually have a JAN code. labelimageminimize
Kid Icarus  Nintendo1987

[49]***Half a year after Nintendo released Kid Icarus in Japan for the Famicom Disk System, they brought the game to the west for the NES. The game is of course nearly the same as the Famicom Disk Version with a few differences. Instead of saving your game on disk a password system was implemented. The NES version als features weaker sound effects and the last shooting-type level a bit more convenient control-wise. The rest from the Famicom Disk System version also applies to the NES version. It is a quality-wise good game, a mixture of [game=#5128]Super Mario Bros.[/game], [game=#7949]Zelda 2[/game] and [game=#8012]Metroid[/game] with nice graphics and music but overly high difficulty level.***In a time when men and gods lived in harmony, the kingdom of Angel Land was ruled by two goddesses: Palutena, the Goddess of Light, and Medusa, the Goddess of Darkness. Unlike Palutena, Medusa despised all humans and enjoyed destroying their crops and turning them into stone. One day, Palutena decided to punish the evil Medusa and banished her after turning her into a hideous monster. But Medusa would not go without a fight. She created an army of monsters and evil spirits and captured Palutena. Players play as Pit, a young angel trapped in the Underworld, and Palutena's only hope. They use a magical bow to retrieve the Sacred Treasures, defeat Medusa and restore peace to Angel Land.***This game was released alongside Metroid. They share similar graphics and even have a crossover character. Both games were also the first to use a password feature. The game was made in 1986 by Nintendo.

Momotarō Densetsu: Peach Boy Legend  Hudson Soft1987"Momotarou Densetsu" is the first of many Momotarou RPG from Hudson Soft. Gameplay mechanics are very similar to the first [url=http://www.uvlist.net/game-7747-Dragon+Quest]Dragon Quest[/url] game. Despite the lack of originality, Hudson Soft delivered a well programmed game with decent graphics and music. Definitely worth a look for fans of classic JRPG's. labelimageminimize
Kid Kool  Vic Tokai1988This is the fastest paced video game anywhere. A race against the clock that only lightning-quick reflexes can win.

Three days. That's all that's left to bring back the Seven Wonder Herbs from the evil Empire of Draxor and asve King Voldam. The diabolical Crown Prince of Draxor has sent out a hellish army to guard them. Now he waits at the gates of the kingdom to lay it waste when the quest fails. The only ones with a chance to get through are Kid Kool -- and you.

You and the Kid are up against an assortment of enemies and obstacles that would turn most youngsters green. To get past them, all you have are furry friends called "wickies." And your magic jumping shoes.

Whatever happens, you've got to keep moving. But most of all, you've got to keep cool.

Paperboy  Mindscape;Elite;Altron (Mindscape)1988Hop on your bike for a free-wheeling ride up the avenues of not-so-typical suburbia. There are papers to be delivered, robbers to be foiled, and fame and fortune to be won as you brave the mean streets. Avoid motorcycles, tricycles, traffic, tires, gratings, curbs, dogs, skateboarders, breakdancers, bad guys, and other hazards as you deliver to your customers. Earn bonus points by hitting targets along the obstacle course at the end of your route. With superb animation and sound effects, Paperboy brings home all the thrills, spills, challenge, and excitement you loved in the arcades.***

Little Red Hood  Joy Van;Sachen;HES (Thin Chen Enterprise)1989This game might just be better than [game=#7706]Hell's Bells[/game]. I'd give it 4.6 stars if I could.***One of the only NES game that requires to have any other game inserted into its cartridge to work.***From the game box :

"[i]This is no ordinary forest, then again, this is no ordinary LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD. She can sure throw a kick and let me tell you, she needs it to get to grandma safely.
The forest is filled with wicked goblins, snakes, scorpions, bears, and of course THE WOLF. Team up with her faithful dog and help LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD collect fruit, candy and magic potions so that che can fight these evil beasts and save grandma.[/i]"***Joy Van offered this game to American Video Entertainment for publishing but they decided not to.
HES Published the cartridge in Australia in two versions. One was a piggyback cartridge, requiring a licensed game be plugged into the back in order to satify the lockout chip. The other was functionally identical but has a cartridge slot dongle on a cable to plug in a licensed game rather that having the slot directly on the back of the cartridge.

Monster Party Bandai (Human)1989A sidescrolling action adventure 'parody horror' game. A young boy, Mark, returns from a ball game and meets a gargoyle alien named Bert. Bert chose Mark to help him out, so he took Mark to his own world and 'fused' with Mark's body.
Now, Mark, with the trusty power of his baseball bat (which can be used to hit projectiles, sending them back at the enemy) and the ability to turn into the flying laser-firing Bert for a short time from taking a special pill, must go through eight weird, colorful levels (the first level gets freaky halfway through, with happy faces turning into bloody skulls and creepy faces), and over 20 bosses ranging from just plain silly (like a potted plant that says 'Hello Baby', a bouncing piece of fried shrimp, and a giant kitten) to the really eldritch (a bunch of weird faces, the Grim Reaper, and the final eyeball boss).
What's even stranger about the game is its freaky and slightly disturbing (and a little gory) ending, and the fact that this Japanese game didn't come out in Japan.

Circus Caper  Toho (Advance Communication Company)1989The original Japanese version was based on a manga/anime series. The US version underwent quite a lot of changes, including a good amount of graphics and removes any reference to the manga/anime.***Thrills, action and fantasy! Circuses are always full of dreams and hope. A big circus comes to a city where Tim and his sister Judy live. However, they can afford only one ticket. Tim kindly gives it to the little girl, "Thanks, brother," Judy says. "Be sure to meet me at the exit after the show." But Judy fails to appear after the show. Mr. Magic, boss of the circus, looms in front of Tim who is anxiously waiting. "You'd better give up on your sister," the malicious magician chuckles, as he tells the boy he kidnapped Judy. "Shucks!" Tim shouts. "You can't do that!" Tim rushes in to rescue his sister. Wicked clowns, tightrope artists, and ferocious animals attack Tim, who fights with a yo-yo, a hammer and a soccer ball. Go, Tim! Beat them all and get the key to the tent where Judy is confined. Rescue her as soon as possible!***NES-M7-USA

[27]***GPS version published by Software Toolworks
Spanish, Scandinavian, German, French, United Kingdom, Italian versions by published Nintendo
Brazilian/South American version by published Playtronic
All other versions published by Capcom***This is an awesome platformer based on an animation (Japanese? I don't know). The main character is stuck in this Dream World, hence the pajamas. You can throw candy at certain creatures, put them to sleep and take (?) their body? I don't really know how else to describe it... anyway, changing into different creatures give you different abilities so you can reach your goal. For example, turning into a frog lets to jump higher and turning into a mole allows you to dig, etc. Some of the levels are really tough and once you get to Nightmare Land... good luck... it took me several tries and a lot of patience to beat this game. You do get this badass fireball-shooting wand towards the end though, which helps a bit.

1 player or 2 players simultaneous mode and alternating mode (hotseat)

The object of paperboy is to throw a newspaper to every house that subscribes without hitting bystanders with your papers or bike, breaking windows, or other wise causing 'trouble'. Ideally, the paper should land directly in their mailbox. But you must also avoid angry dogs, malevolent people, cars, ghosts, tire throwing rednecks, cannon fire, kiddy gangs, sewer grates, sewer dwellers, and other such hazards. Players can only carry a limited number of papers and often must pickup another bundle along the way. The player might stop criminals breaking in to places or shooting at police by hitting them with a paper.
This version features a two player option. Either player can choose a boy or girl rider independently in any combination. For the main mode, the play is alternating. This mode unusually allows player 1 to finish their entire route before player 2 does the same, regardless if the players lose lives during their turn (most games switch when lives are lost.) The setup suggests that the riders had completed their routes simultaneously but player 1 is always waiting at the end of their route for player 2. Then the simultaneous mode begins. Then players race each other through an obstacle/job practice course. (a single player races the course alone). The whole process repeats the next day. The subscribers change based partially on how well the players deliver their papers.
